Thanks Bernd. But if, even with the wheel handle, the pilots can not turn the wheel fast enough? I understand that the elevator is the primary pitch control, but this is supposing the aircraft is...

Do you know how many hand inputs from the pilot will take to complete one turn? Three, four? Supposing the answer is three, the pilot will have to make 44 hand movements to change one degree. If the...

Disable MCAS with opposite pilot input

As soon as the pilot input is in the opposite direction (Yoke, trim or both). If the pilot is trying to raise the nose, he is pretty much certain there is not a pre-stall situation.

Pings

What I understood about pings is that the trajectory arc is based on supposed speed and possible fuel range. Since the "handshake" received by Inmarsat means "engine still running", could it be...

Fire

I got curious and did a research on the antenna locations on the B-777. As I imagined, all the comm related antennas are under the "belly" and directly under the forward cargo bay. All the sat comm...

Insurance

The only way operators will change their training policy is by pressure of insurance companies.

I am a retired helicopter pilot and I fly a light twin airplane. I remember that insurance companies...

Partial autopilot disconnect

CJ's quote: "Finally, the autothrottle did leave the power at the last setting.
Whether it would have been preferable for the autopilot to have reverted to a basic attitude hold is IMHO very much...

Unprepared Autopilots

IMHO, at the present level of automation, I don't see enough reasons for an autopilot disconnection. If the solution for UAS is so simple (pitch & power), why the autopilot "refused" to hold the same...

A pilot flying any type a/c knows he must avoid problems, simply because some problems he might not be able to solve. One of these problems is weather. A pilot is a "problem avoider". And he can do...

Flickering Flight Display

xcitation, it looks to me that he is "chasing" a flickering PFD.

It was an attitude indicator, because he is correcting roll also.

But anyway, at least to my knowledge, the normal is to be...

One thing that is puzzling me is the speed of PF's hand on his movements aft and forward on the sidestick.
From 02:10:13 to 02:10:16 (only three seconds) he moved his sidestick 9 times. That's three...

How is it possible?

It seems to me that the PNF was giving instructions to the PF based on indications he had, and PF didn't.
It also seems to me that the PF had his own indications, but was not trusting them, they...

Victor2, are you telling me ATC does not trust pilots any more?

The big question

So the question now (for AF & AB) is:
We should give more training to the pilots or "teach" the computers to get out of emergencies?

Computer's way of "thinking" is very simple: "if this, go to...

One pilot and one computer specialist. The computer will have a new "law", the...

Henra, maybe I got it wrong but I understood from the report that the aircraft was in a pitch up attitude of 16 when it reached 38.000 ft.

Level attitude would not be something around 4 or 5 ?
