The problem is that near Earth orbit is not so big. A couple of decent sized satellites colliding in NEO could be devastating to the rest, not to mention the ISS and those astronauts/cosmonauts...

Sad day. Such a shame to see the back of an iconic BA type leaving LHR for the last time. My last flight on Victor Sierra to BOS in December 2019...I had no clue it would be my last ever.
