I'm looking fairly urgently for an engine person who knows the VIPER 680-43. This engine was fitted in NZ MB339s. Please feel free to PM me if you can help.

BAeS Hawk Engineer

Good afternoon Ppruners,

I'm looking to make contact with an experienced Hawk engineer (not T2), who would be available to do a little consulting with me for a few days at the end of Sep.

Brawdy 55

This is such sad news. Dick was someone who motivated/encouraged me to move from my role as a young pilot off controller (Spot) at Brawdy towards my dream of flying. We flew together countless times,...

And Rafale?

Be interesting to see how this affects Rafale. Dassault struggling to sort the hugely reduced India order due, Iím led to believe by offset issues. And if Typhoon is allegedly gen 4.5, what can...

Well done everyone. A real pleasure to watch throughout the whole morning. The flying formations were excellent and the marching something to be proud of. Great to see the F35s but the Typhoons won...

Thoughts

I was lucky enough to have this outstanding engineer work for me back in Coltishall days. A lovely bloke, great company, professional and no doubt a dreadful loss to his current unit. Per Ardua Jon.

Martin

What sad, sad news. I was lucky enough to do a short Hawk course with Martin at Chivenor. I'd just come from a tour on the Jaguar and was a fairly confident weaponeer. That said, I can remember being...

A different system

This is interesting. In my experience at the similar base, albeit a while ago, fast jet staff officers from HQs around France would come down to fly their allocated 12 hours (I think) per year. Some...

A great loss. He was a real character on the OCU, as were the rest of his cse (eh BV)! I shall remember the keen talented young pilot stepping off into his career. My thoughts are with his family.

I received the two emails but the language seemed wrong and even though I stayed last week and paid a similar size bill, I avoided the initial temptation to open it. Hope there are no other personal...

Dreadful news. A great mate, local expert for whom nothing was too much effort. My heart goes out to Lesley and the family. Another good one gone. Guy.

TGV

Train was a prototype TGV that derailed. 7 dead and 7 injured. Coach fell off bridge into river. Too high a speed is being quoted by local officials. Unlikely to be connected to the Paris tragedy.

For those who speak French, a particularly moving tribute on an excellent French military blog. What. A dreadful, dreadful loss of life. As a TLP graduate myself, this is simply unimaginable.

An outstanding display from both a punter and a fellow operator's point of view. Given how underpowered the Fr jet was, it's impressive to watch the climb after take off even given a low fuel weight...
