Odd place to park a JQ, near end Melbourne 16

Sitting in the Melbourne QClub, looking out towards runway 16, JQ aircraft parked in an odd spot near the end of the runway. Something amiss, or a normal remote bay?

What a sad loss, discovered the blog about 3 years ago, via PPRUNE. Hope Captain Dave is ok, shame to any airline management who had anything to do with shutting it down.

No issue with safety briefing & take-off, my slight bother is Qantas calling for all devices to be turned off at top of descent. Meaning most times into Sydney 30-40 minutes before wheels down.
