It took me around 3 months to convert from UK to IAA, the hold up was the CAAís end. I recently converted from the IAA to Austrocontrol in a few weeks.

i think he is confusing the Astra/G100 with the Galaxy/G200 here.

I agree though that a G100 is far superior to the LR55, and a G200 even better.

Simply not true. I presently fly a G280, and have had no such issues with the exception of Beirut. We also operated a G100 for many years in the region with no problems.
