PPJN says £48,500 + £9/hr flight pay + £2.87/hr duty pay. I make that about £2,900 per month basic take home...

I gather a Virgin Atlantic A340-600 is passing through MME on 3rd May operating an MOD charter to Calgary. Quite a big bird for the airfield, and perhaps the first visit for such an aircraft?
