If it was there between ‘92 and ‘99 then I obviously spent even more time in the Abbey than I thought.

Would probably do it. I was somewhat surprised to see the RAF is a little more than half the size it was when I left in ‘99. Even then it was down by 35k bodies from when I joined in ‘84.

Only ever flew in a 747 for 2 sectors, LHR-KUL-MEL.

I did, however, work on them for 4 years, -200, -300-, -SP’s, -400 and -400ER. And a little on -400F’s. Still my favorite aircraft to work on.

And 40 years ago the RAF had 1st, 2nd and 3rd line engineering facilities and experience within their ranks, not contracted out. They had RAF service personnel employed as chefs and stewards, etc....
