So if you're flying to Canada and beyond you may be getting a scenic route.

I'm impressed with the seeming simplicity of it all. Really then, if you had a mind to it, and bags of pre-flight time, you could ostensibly 'shave off' miles from your flight-plan route!

Staying low for the stated reasons does make sense but how would that compute with fuel burn/altitude parameters?
