The answer...

Greetings all,

I hope you are all familiar with the terms "Warning", "Caution" and "Note". Failure to observe a "warning" may result in loss of life. In the SID off rwy 15 at YBCS is a warning to...

Pilots get where they are due to merit. The myths of "opening the hairy checkbook" are just that. (Or "feeding the poor in Brazil", nowadays.) I would personally ask the JQ CP how she got the job,...

It's all up to HR, regrettably

G'day

At one interview I was asked how I would function with a person who was not of my race/gender/ethnicity/religion/preference in pets etc. etc... and I replied that, fortunately, I was blind....

Imagine both of them clutched together and then rammed up your jacksie. Go for the one that hurts least, but they're both gonna hurt.

Ned.

An end to corruption and fatigue

Hi folks!

We are now "celebrating" over 10 years without prescriptive fatigue laws governing Australian pilots. Also, no fatigue laws for flight attendants in Australian airspace. CASA had for...

I'm so tired of the fatigue issue.

It is a part of law that a pilot will not fly when fatigued, yet we all do it, because our livelihood is threatened by management, we will lose our jobs if we will not comply.

Yet compliance...

Well it worked fine for Impulse Airlines through all their years of operating as themselves and as Qantaslink on B717. It suceeded on a number of levels, not the least of which was team-bonding,...

Answer to all

FUFO lives! Tassie is too far away, je regrette.

Transtate profited $6mil per year - bone head. But thanks for your useless contribution. And what would you freaking know any way?

I meant no...

Capt. Claret. Certainly mate! Here are the oz lotto numbers!

36 24 38 2 6 20 21

They all represent ladies I have known. On the sadder side, Skytrans crew are out of jobs. Will Rex come in, or will the new QantaslinkStar (with all Q400s and half the...

Word on the street is...

Skytrans will fold on 2nd Jan 2015. If you have sick leave, then go sick. A stat. dec. can cover that - chest pains can be due to anything. Best of luck all, apart from the spivs that screwed you. At...

Don't forget there's an umpire!

The Fair Work comissioners hear arguments based upon the law at the time. If you can demonstrate that you have incresed productivity since your last EBA, if you can demonstrate that even CPI...

Vote with your common sense!

Well said BB,

this EBA is about shoring up your rights and entitlements, and you are one of the last CAO 48 people that have that enshrined in their EBA. Don't lose it - it is gold. If the...

Too true

Alas Amos2, your statement that "Any bloke who can't climb 2000' without invoking Alpha Floor shouldn't be in the front seat of any aircraft!" is so true, but reality is - they are.

Good to see great discussion

Some gems of wisdom have appeared, in no particular order I'd like to:

hats off to Flexible Response for the airmanship issue of keeping your hand on the S/B lever until you are finished with it....

I do hope this thread continues

I find the whole incident fascinating, and avoidable. One of the great assets of a forum is the ability to share information and suggestions to avoid a repeat scenario. A couple of points from my dim...

Mis-handling or mis-understanding?

There is an old joke about the difference between an experienced Airbus pilot, and those of lesser experience and it goes like this:

An in-experienced Airbus pilot exclaims "What's it doing...

Only 12 trillion?

Just so you get the picture, The USA printed 12 trillion dollars to extricate themselves from the GFC. Assuming an average house is worth half-a-million dollars, this amount is equal to a house sale...

I too remember that terrible day, but moreso I remember about 1 year previously when I was on my first trip to CNS in about 10 years in a B717. Looking over to the GA side, I saw Aerotropics had a...

Well done!

I think everyone needs to take 3 deep breaths, and look at the legal perspective.

If you are rostered for mind-numbing shifts that leave you in a perpetual state of jet-lag, unable to enjoy your...

If you sieve through the preceding posts, and take out the competitive BS, the truth shines through. Airlines today MUST be also training organisations. Pilot managers MUST convince the CEOs that...

Common sense = survival

Great to see that wise heads are showing the way for the in-experienced. The CARs mandate that the PIC will carry enough fuel! You will never want to be in a court-room facing a be-wigged [email protected] asking...

How to spot Geese.

I'm sure Captain Sully would love this discourse, but it deals not with airborne geese, only people who "act the goose".

First of all you must identify the goose, and the best way I've found is...
