How can you be "Type Rated" and not have flown...

How can you be "Type Rated" and not have flown for 1,5 years? Surely you missed a few proficiency checks and need some hours to re-qualify?

I'd get that sorted first and then try again on the job...

Some of my colleagues do indeed continue to fly elsewhere after their retirement at 56. I can imagine the F/O's at the airlines concerned don't appreciate that very much....
