Floor or ground?

I think we've lost the battle with this one. Even the BBC now seems to refer to anywhere we stand, indoors or outdoors, as the 'floor'.

Perhaps GCAs etc need to become FCAs.

Another current blood-boiler, for me, is 'near to' which pervades much of my local press and TV.

For example: "Madingley, a village near to Cambridge."

Almost as bad as 'comprise of'. 😬😬😬
