It strikes me as discrimination that even if there is no underwing camping allowed there will still be a fee levied on aircraft and the people on board visiting the races by air.

Accident Kooweerup

Radio news reports a fatal accident at Kooweerup today, April 4. The report has a helmet striking the prop and the aircraft then crashing. One dead.

Birdsville race. Ban on Underwing camping.

The council talks of the cost of looking after the airport and the cost of providing potties, showers security etc.

No where have I seen any mention from Council of the fee that each airborne...

Pilot recency

I was expecting this aspect of lack of currency, airlines or GA, to have an effect on handling skills with the result being small but note worthy events. And they are only the ones that we hear about.

Does any more senior reader know of or remember Captain John Brian (Brian) McCardell. He was with Butler Air Transport in the 1950s'. He flew Avro Anson and DC-3 aircraft.
