I don't think there is an easy fix for that. But the difficulty in manually trimming is not unique to the Max - NG has the same issue above a certain airspeed.

UTAir B735 trim runaway

AVH reports UT-759 B735 experienced a trim runaway after takeoff from Surgut. Doesn't say what trim, but they held at 2500 for an hour before climbing to 6000 to burn off fuel.

Hard to believe that will happen given that United for one just cancelled their Max flights into August. Also, 150 hour per Max for a fix seems like more than a software upgrade.

These should be PAX memory items. 'Training' never hurts. I always listen and count rows to nearest forward and rear exits as each config on a given type is different even within same airline.
