In my opinion you are limited by the stated Limitations in the RFM. Transient limits are not to be planned for. Soft limiting is beyond the limitations and are transients.

I do use soft limiting...

Why are you discontinuing the start after 6 seconds? A slow light off isn't unusual especially if you have a bad check valve in the fuel line and you're sucking air for the first few seconds.
