I think you may be looking at an out-of-date copy of the regulation. The current text of FCL.710, as amended by Regulation 2019/1747, is as I have quoted it above.

There is no requirement for differences training...

There is no requirement for differences training in TMG. SEP, SET or MEP aeroplanes to be completed within a DTO/ATO unless the manufacturer requires it in the OSD-FC.
