Gee, and there I was thinking they helped streamline the aircraft into wind when they go topsy turvy after they ditch in the Gulf of Mexico.

Seems they probably do as much of that as anything else...

I beg to differ....any really experienced helicopter pilot would never do what you suggest. At my experience level....they would have to have bullhorns for me to hear them!;)
