It seems as though it was designed for steep turns also. I'm guessing that the test pilots rolled and pulled and then they didn't have to pull so hard or had to neutralize as the engines aero effect...

Wouldn’t a steep turn be done at 250 KIAS? So you bank and yank and all of a sudden you don’t have to yank so hard. Anybody done steep turns in a Max sim?
