They actually don't produce much drag. The booster ascends out of the thicker air quite quickly so by the time it's going fast enough for drag to be an issue, they air is thin enough not to matter....

Clearly you haven't followed the history of SpaceX. The Falcon 1 prototypes blew up regularly before they got one to orbit, they quickly moved on to the Falcon 9 and after a handful of failures now...

In this case no as none of the hardware reached orbital velocity. The super heavy booster ended up in the Gulf of Mexico, the Starship second stage in the Atlantic.
