Just had another look at the third report and was struck by how hard the PF appears to be working the roll axis right after the disconnect. See page 29..

If they felt they were fast and descending perhaps they thought this was a high speed stall warning? In which case relaxing the back stick but still mantaining some might make sense.

As I understand it the aircraft (if not the pilots) knew the AOA was too high. So perhaps changing the audible warning to announce the AOA would be benificial.

At the very least change it so that...

I agree with you but I wonder how many glider pilots would check the trim wheel position in the middle of recovering from a stall? Bet most would wait until they had recovered to S&L.

Am I correct in thinking that the trim (auto or manual) has more control throw/authority than the side stick? In effect auto trim has changed...

Interesting comment. When down elevator is applied what happens to the "vortex" drag that is "assisting it's lift"? Seems to me it would reduce.

Does that work if you start in the stalled condition with high rate of descent and 40 degree AOA? Will it accelerate out of the stall at cruise throttle?

Am I right in thinking that -10,000 ft/min is around 100kts down? In which case if their airspeed was <60kts a normal attitude would produce a very high AoA.

If so they may have a normal...

So PF doesn't think anything is working and lowering the nose appeared to trigger a stall warning. How many people in that situation would continue to trust the stall warning system was working?
