Yup but in a hybrid (turbine/electric) tug the turbine would be operated at max efficiency charging the battery. If you insist...a Diesel/Electric hybrid would also be reasonably efficient.

In fact I believe turbine engines are more efficient than many other gas engines. They have been considered for use in hybrid cars...

A neat trick would be to use the energy released...

A neat trick would be to use the energy released by a landing plane to power the taxi system. Bit impractical to implement. Would need arrestor wires or something similar to recover the energy.......
