.....from reading all the excellent info here, is it too simplistic to say that the airframe’s aerodynamic characteristics were a poor fit for the much-more powerful engines?

That a critical control feature has apparently been undocumented/unavailable to the pilots flying the MAX.

Can the FDR show if the ND trim was driven by STS vs pilots manual input?
If Rostov is to be believed I guess No, hence the fantastic notion that a pilot trimmed Down for 12 seconds on GA at 3,000...

I understand that STS has its own separate AS inputs.

however Ran indicated that AP has Stab Trim input as well, and theorized the Cap May have left AP Stab Trim on the faulty side A.

As a non-pilot, the STS seems very important to me and also - a bit scary?

Is it possible that the STS, given an (incorrect, too-slow) air-speed, after the AP was disengaged (perhaps because AC noticed the conflicting AIS and is following the QRH)....might then trim...
