Having been retired for more time than I care to admit, just a thought....whilst flying on active route 1 , is it not possible to put in the fix page, any 5 letter waypoint ? Then at the desired...

I hate to be a pessimist but IF the flight excursion to 45,000 feet did occur, then it might explain lack of phone signals texts etc.....

playing for max confusion and time.....

The more one sees , and the more one reads, especially regarding the route being flown and the timing of dropping off of all comms, the more this looks like a very carefully planned and executed...
