JD, Where? Cabling? System...

JD,

Where? Cabling? System Interconnections? Are you concerned with a/c aging?

Did you see how they soldered WWII internal radio wiring gear, against a/c vibration? For example, the...

Good old days

JD,

:=

In the good old days :) the wire wrap indeed was a very good approach.

About wiring issues, are you familiar with Kapton issue?:}:E

This is IMO the real monstrosity.

Just asking

GY,

I am just asking the required thrust (and if this could "save").

I agree in general with the other comments you made.

I just would like to known if a typical APU class turbine...

Augmented special (APU) turbine

Hi,

Question:

Suppose an APU turbine with afterburner; Suppose itīs nozzle pointed 45° down.

How many pounds of thrust you typically need to "restore pitch" in order to start flying...

Tek(tronix) TDR and edge connectors characterization

syseng68k,

A little bit more off topic just to answer you: My motivation at that time in this issue was very high for several important reasons. Most of other engineers were "bit minded" and i...

WRG FLR

Hi, syseng68k

Being "hardware oriented" it seems they had a lot of stray capacitance and inductance with no ground plane, therefore "non controlled impedance. Just basing in my RF intuition....

Connection faults

We assembled a big System (SPC Telephone switching System) prototype using "wire wrap". Big dense boards presenting complex testability issues.

I am amazed they were used also in avionics. (you...

Increasing complexity investigation task

Svarin,

You asked: These faults are unrelated : wiring + icing. How can this be ?

The accident investigation of "hardware based" a/c involves dealing with facts "recorded' in wreckage,...

Connections, wiring and cabling

Hi, Iceheart

I agree. I started to use soldering irons in 1965. Despite "being an old guy" i consider crimped connections a very good approach.

I would like to known what kind of wiring...

As you will be able to read in the many posts this was considered and discussed in detail. The discussions are deep and here concentrated in all technical aspects of the tragedy.

System "Pitot DSP are amplifying" Pitot problems?

Hi,

BEA sequence is: AP quits, AT quits, RH roll, PF action, SW, SW... Sharp fall from LH Pitot then a few moments later from ISIS Pitot

I suspect the "processing" of Pitot data (signal...

Fault Tolerant Systems

In respect to FBW, Airbus SAS philosophy and computers with itīs intrinsic complexity (software testability issues, etc.) the redundancy implemented is mandatory for itīs advanced planes.

POB "feelings" after sudden climb

What plane "attitudes" was probably mostly felt by PAX?

1) Sudden climb at 7,000 fpm
2) perigee deccel together high pitch
3) perigee zero (vertical speed) to > 10,000 fpm, speed variation
4)...

Dealing with Pitot data, sometimes unreliable

Hi,

I am assuming that most of Pitot discrepancies (among the 3) takes some time to stabilize in a condition capable to trigger a "switch law".

I am just imagining as "technically feasible"...

ND using an special type of APU

How many pounds of thrust an "augmented" special type APU would need for the task for this class of a/c? With a 45° degrees tilted nozzle.:8

Early warning of Air Speed sensors "failure"

Considering the importance of Air Speed (critical to "advanced planes" Systems) why not to implement an "EW AS resource" to alert the crew, before the System actions.

Pitotīs failure (e.g. at...

POB Fall sensation

During the near 11,000 fpm from perigee to sea level the cabin pressure was kept quite constant during the few minutes fall? How typically varied?

What kind of "barometric" sensation the POB felt?...
