That is not the case, it seems you can be put anywhere regardless of whether you are invited by OAA or CAE to the interview.

At least there have been recent examples of this, for instance invited...

Way too many are making assumptions that because they are over 30 they are not getting called. Several posters have said they were over 30 when hired, this suggests that you can actually be over 30...
