Confusion

A/P ON

Gentlemen,

it is obviously difficult for most internet-age people to read beyond a few lines of text with any effectiveness. Please sweat a little with me.

Autopilot was turned back ON by 02:13...

Pilots wakefulness

Gentlemen,

there are at least two reliable, solid indications that the guys up front were active right in the middle of the ACARS message stream, that is between 0210 and 0214.

First is the...

777 pitch-up incident video

To alph2z :

Now that is chillingly close to the kind of problem I have in mind regarding our thread subject matter, keeping in mind vast differences in design philosophy between the 777 and the...

Flight Controls

Gentlemen,

please consider these :

02:13:45 F/CTL PRIM1 FAULT
02:13:51 F/CTL SEC1 FAULT

First, this describes a simultaneous failure of PRIM1 and SEC1, which greatly reduces the likelyhood...

Regarding FPV FLAGs

From BOAC

Yes, Sir. Read again the relevant BEA report parts. They say these messages mean FPV function is selected ON and failed. This selection is consistent with AF SOPs at the time (again, BEA...

Active Pilots during event

Gentlemen,

please remember both ACARS messages :

02:12:10 FLAG ON CPT PFD FPV
02:12:16 FLAG ON F/O PFD FPV

This means both left and right pilots clicked their FPVs ON and found them failed....

Gentlemen,

has anyone any idea of the location of this debris field ?

A/P disconnect vs A/P lost

Thank you PJ2 for these tables.

One can notice that ADR DISAGREE does not entail A/P LOST condition.

Which means that under ADR DISAGREE conditions, A/P can be reengaged, presumably when the...

Everything is possible but you will need a root cause for upset, for which there is no proof nor evidence. That is a gratuitous hypothesis, not Occam compliant at all.

Interesting but when ? Certainly not initially at 02:10. But maybe at 02:13, when the FMGEC1 failure appeared, as determined by the AFS in a class 1 message. The AFS would only...
