There are days when it might actually be a perfectly reasonable option to burn all the calculated/documented contingency fuel on taxi-out, even some of your trip fuel, but nevertheless get airborne....

Pretty much, I can't remember the numbers but Oz rules certainly do often allow despatch without the need for alternate fuel..hence the great unhappiness expressed by some on the thread...
