If the CAA approves landings it must be with caveats. The London zone is under potential ash cover and will be until at least 21/4 1200.

Volcanic ash cloud

That LHR will likely not reopen on tuesday evening! However, if the wind over Iceland changes as expected tonight then an opening by say wednesday p.m. is probably reasonable.

I hope the Dutch pilots association did not really say this. One empty 737 which did a flight and survived is not proof.

Our met offices probably have a good idea where the ash is and AMS is not...

Where do these "decisions" originate

Try comparing the airports open with the UK met office ash cloud forecasts. I see a remarkable resemblence although the forecast is altitude specific.

What I think we need, and probably sooner...
