I believe they mean in this situation to disconnect. Only override if disconnection is not possible and an emergency situation has...

To quote from Airbus...

"Except in emergency situations, AP and A/THR must not be overridden manually."

Just curious whether this applies to any other types. I have seen it done for a few...
