I now see that what was looking like a tread hole...

I now see that what was looking like a tread hole is in fact the end cap of the bearing..
Now if we can just get a glimpse of the guides on the inside of the recovered door plug.

Yes, I now agree. But why the appearance of an internal thread to the stub post. Maybe there is the small bolt you show and the bolt I envisioned.
