Maybe he realised he ****** up his original plan and needed max performance to escape from terrain...

Yes that is what I said, never had time to reach Valphamax, as in decelerating towards Valphamax with stick pulled fully aft.
The maximum aoa was never reached, but the sidestick was only fully aft...
