What's one plausible relationship between:

1. the incident below at bottom (which, according to latest ATSB revelations a few days ago, remains insoluble),
2. BA038 and
3. the A320 crash off...

Any mass of ice forming in the high-level cruise and adhering to a surface would, in a gradually warming environment of a descent, firstly become dislodged,move with the flow...

Everything's Relative.....

But it may well have been "warmer" - as the post says......

Warmer stirred fuel added via refuel would tend to "soak up" ice-melt inside the tanks and perhaps invalidate any sumping.

My reading of the highlights from the initial FAA Report (http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/cargo/21805-new-ba-777-info.html) on Flt BA038 (below) is that:

a. There were center-tank water warnings...

Think Viscosity, think flow restrictions

The theory I prefer for BA038 is related to the long-term cold-soak.

Forget the fuel having "frozen". Think moreso the cavitation damage to the fuel-pumps (and their restricted throughput/fuel...

It would appear that the evidence and opinion is becoming increasingly supportive of the center-tank having been the logical source of the obstruction causing the double-engine stagnation and pump...
