Depends how dead the 13" is. If it can boot then do so in Target mode [Cmd + T] having connected via Firewire to the new m/c. Old m/c will be seen as an external drive. A mother board fail makes this...

I also use a Logitech mouse. I need a bunch of extra buttons for the way I work.

But the Mighty Mouse can be reconfigured for much better response than default.
