This has only one canister/liferaft and one long bit of string with floats attached, i am not sure that would would wrap around the survivors the same way that the ASR did.

Great, but unless they are steerable while in flight will be useless, same goes for sonobuoys, by the time they hit the water the target will have moved out of detect range. High altitude tracking...
