No it does not.
Selecting a specific speed when in the climb mode only affects the speed you want to use for your climb. The target EPR remains the same : climb thrust !

At the time of the bird strike both thrust levers were probably in the climb detent still looking for the computed target climb EPR but N1 decreased abruptly to 35% and 15% on engines 1 & 2...
