As far as I am concerned in remote areas w/o VHF...

As far as I am concerned in remote areas w/o VHF coverage VHF1 is set on Guard, VHF2 - IFB (123.45 or 126.9) and VHF3 ACARS.
So a MAYDAY call is REALLY straightforward...
