Turbulence at high alt & low ground speed

So I was travelling on a 757 TATL yesterday... we are at FL400 and there's a bit of moderate chop. The ground speed on the tv screens reads 369mph.

US Flight 734 PHL to MAN - 8 hours late

Apparently the flight from PHL to MAN had to turn back on Friday night... it eventually arrived in MAN 8 hours late at 5pm instead of the usual 9am.
