yes it would. Fire would lead to the shutdown of the entire suite. I think the 90 degree turn had to do with loss of spoilers.

Those acars notices show flipped breakers. The final one is the breaker that controls spoilers 1 and 2 on the airbus. Those are on the wing and the fuel tanks on in the wings. Ie the tank exploded....
