The FSO on duty was Doug Dick - of training course 13/14/15 I think. He had been rated for less than 6 months. I never heard about the "free flights" mentioned and neither George or Doug ever...

QANTAS & Singapore/Bangkok

Here's a suggestion:
Fly QFA to Singapore and then get the EK connection to DXB, same for BKK. Probably could still get on QFA in DXB if timing is right.

Sorry! not a snow flakes chance in hell of the F27-500 getting anywhere near that. Best I ever saw was one at F210 and that was on the ferry from Holland (between Bali and Darwin I think).

As a former FS officer I can confirm that there was a FS unit at Broome and yes it was there until Jan 1971 when Dixie Goodard closed it. I worked with him in Port Hedland during 1971-2. He died...

Probably a Qantas Electra (L188) or maybe an Air NZ DC8-50 but these would have been in mid-60's.
