I think it also must depend on the airline you work for. There are companies with huge dispensations that don't need to stick to FTL's.

There is an L-382 around Europe regularly, I've seen it. Its a civilian model of the C-130 Hercules. IIRC 20T is about the max load for a Hercules. It's operated by an Oil Company.
