I fly a G1000 DA40 (VFR only), and like to put it in reversionary mode when I have a passenger fly the plane, and we don't need the map.

At the maximum travel, the airplane will always stall (with very few exceptions), regardless of airspeed or weight....

We have to do pilotage (flying by landmarks), too, and I can certainly fly without GPS.

But we also need to learn radio nav, and as it happens, the only radio nav equipment I have access to is GPS.
