We were in exactly the same scenario some years...

We were in exactly the same scenario some years ago. It was cheaper to park AND stay overnight in a hotel and flyJet2 from Newcastle to Faro than to park and fly from Edinburgh.

I haven't flown on the 787 so can't comment on the comfort, but I'm tempted to say - take your own food.

There was a programme on BBC4 the other night about the rise of air travel in the 20s and 30s which showed exactly that. In some cases the luggage went separately.

I've never understood why the US military flights use Prestwick instead of Mildenhall or Lakenheath; both have shorter runways but surely that's not the issue. Perhaps it's the aviation equivalent...

I've flown BA from Edinburgh to Bari, and Naples to Edinburgh, via Gro^H^Hatwick, and I think both routes are still available, so doesn't that make Gatwick a hub?
