Doubt those on short term contracts will get staff travel. And if you did I doubt you'd get the leave to use it apart from on your 8 days off per roster.

air NZ pilots earn a decent amount. from 70k for a first year SO up to 300k for a 777 capt. a320 capt earning about 220k and a 767 260k. so they get by quite well
