mountainous regions cause reflection and diffraction of the transmitted radio signals it doesnt cause them to fade at the receiver the only we get away with this error is by flying at higher altitude...

tan theta = opposite side (radius) / adajacent side(height)

here theta=50 deg and adajacent side = 20000ft we can get it...

therefore,

Radius = TAS/ rate
= 480/ 3deg^60 ( since rate-1 and 1deg=60)
Radius= 2.6 nm
