The AW189 is actually the civil version of the AW149, military project aimed to bid in a contract in Turkey. Once lost it was recycled for SAR UK and, why not, O&G.

Airbus tried the same a decade ago in Spain with Maritime SAR. It turned into an absolute failure.
it's still weird, that an OEM, in order to sell helicopters, becomes the operator itself.

let's try to make it easier.

The helicopters would be owned by the operator, in Europe, already paid. The route/customer they'll fly would be the same....

To the best of my knowledge the FCCs are different. The issues with pitch control on the AW189 can't be solved simply by "installing" a Honeywell software. In the other hand the 189 AFCS is better...

I think something like that happened to the 139 when AW reinforced the tail boom due to debonding. The stress was shifted back to the tail with the tragic known results. But AW solved that critical...

The fact is that in the JAR FCL licence nothing was specified about SP/MP. My original TR was done SP, but nothing written in the licence, and later on, with the required expirience and an MCC...

Interesting competition.
At this point I'd bet for the S70i. It's made in Poland, very versatile for Army, Navy and Air Force. Real missions proved. I cannot find any weakness for this helicopter....
