Not sure where you sat yours initially but as I did mine out of Invercargill when I looked into the flight was going to be much longer and expensive just due to getting time slots to shoot approaches...

I was in the same boat and emailed casa and was told it doesn't expire anymore and I will only need a renewal not a examination. Made sure I got it in writing though

If your any good with a welder you could probably adapt a couple of high lift/kangaroo jacks. Put a bigger base and cradle to hold each end of the drum or something.
