747 SP

The one I loved was the 747 SP, short and stubby with only about 12 seats upstairs which made it feel like a private jet. Somehow felt very robust and stable. Enjoyed many a trip on QF on the 747 SP...

Liquids

Amusing thread. I can't help thinking that there isn't much point squabbling over definitions of what is 're-sealable' and what isn't. The point is that the idiots at security can define in anyway...

Some good and interesting responses here. So, as I was the original poster, let me clarify a few points.

1. First and foremost, the original purpose of the post was not to complain, but to give...

Well said, Capetonian, you've got it in one. In the UK, it's nothing to do with security or efficiency and everything to do with chippiness. You're a bunch of...

Kudos to BA crew

Kudos to BA crew in J on BA199 LHR to Mumbai on 4 November. After a few dismal experiences in BA recently (paper cups for morning tea in First was a recent low point!), I have to acknowledge the...

I have often wondered ...

Well, I can tell you. Six burly operatives in black suits and dark glasses descend upon you, hood and cuff you and you wake up 18 hours later in Azkaban.

No, really...

As if to prove a point, I got through MIA today in record time en route from the Caribbean to New York City. Less than 5 minutes in immigration, where I was processed most politely and efficiently....

So I started wondering why there is so much bile in this thread about Ryanair. What is it that evokes such strong feelings, both for and against? I’ve only used them once and, I must say, I found...

VS - I think Skipness and eastern-wiseguy are right. It is unprofessional and discourteous in this context in the UK.

On the other hand, I agree with you. 99.9% of the time I would let it go. But...

Completely agree with last comment ... consistency would be wonderful.

I think the original question was aimed at in-flight service, so I won't bang on about check-in and screening procedures...

Wow!

Great set of posts.

Not only am I not alone, but I feel pathetically grateful that I didn't end up in the British equivalent of Guantanamo Bay!

PS: Forgot to mention that bloody-minded...

US Transits

Some great posts here, and in general I agree with most of what has been said. The US has improved significantly in the past couple of years, so that most times, whether in transit or...

Great list

Cannot fault your list, Liteswap. ANZ - great airline. VS/BA, brisk and efficient, but VS Upper Class has the edge on BA. The US carriers, well ... least said the better. I'm a million miler with AA,...

Thumbs up Gatwick North: yellow shirts

I'm glad it is not just me.

I flew out of LGW N last week, after trips to SFO and various European destinations (all through LHR) and carrying exactly the same two pieces of carry-on, a Hartmann...

Red face Does it really matter?

It's 3 or 4 hours ... does it really matter that much?

Thumbs up Nope!

Not at all.

Certainly with the World's Favourite Airline silver/gold status these days simply means that you are penalized slightly less than all the other punters. If you fly J or F anyway, then...
