According to the AD bulletin, one of the effects of an AoA sensor failure is 'stick shaker on the affected side only'. So the computers can use 'logic' to determine this.

If each pilot could see his own AoA they could decide which was faulty whether it read FSD, zero or was erratic. Or the computer could flag one as 'out of range'

But the alpha vane was replaced, so it probably wasn't the fault unless both new and old were defective. Maybe the real fault was 'downstream' of the alpha vane?

What if the pitot/static system is not the root cause?

The engineers investigated UAS three times and would surely have discovered blocked or disconnected sensors. What is the next most likely cause? How many AoA sensors does the A/C have?
