publicity

She is spending her own money to promote a guy that otherwise would be just another one among so many irrelevant journalists.

My opinion about some americans is reciprocal.

Promani,

I am just saying that this discussion will be fruitless at this point, with all that could be discussed effectively taken into account.

Nothing against the people who are cooperating...

qantas

In the Qantas flight episode the a/c left normal law only when PRIM 1 was reset after the crew turned it off and PRIM 2 became master.

Actually the crew was trying to end the uncommanded pitch...

tcas altitude

So it would depend on the TCAs model - I don't remember if someone wrote about it in this thread - in this particular a/c the need of a direct attitude input ?

I wonder how TCAs gets altitude...

TCAs - groundspeed

Maybe it has groundspeed as input.

I suppose - please correct me if i am wrong - that groundspeed is provided by the Inertial Reference Units only (not ADRs).

speculation

takata,

I would accept the blocked pitot theory without further questioning if it was not that IR2 fault.

I am just trying to find a rational relationship between those ACARS messages.

But I...

Takata,

I beg to differ. I think this is at least controversial.

And I remeber you saying something about failed engines. Maybe that's why Will Fraser is coming up with that AD now.

acars

Takata,

I cannot answer this question because I don't have QF72 ACARS sequence.

What I know is that a single IR failure in QF72 (not two or three) made the A/P disconnect and so on, similarly...

Yes, Aguadalte...
You were right since the beginning.

The question is: Did they turn on ADIRU1 again ? Wouldn't it take some time to realign ? And how would it realign without trustful IR data...

more speculation

All those warnings begin

The crew guesses by turning ADR1 off. Only PRIM2 detects the move.

The ISIS, which is fed by ADR1 input, complains.

But the culprit was IR2 which generated wrong...

Apologies If I am wrong, but pitot tubes provide ADR data, not Inertial Reference Data.

To be honest, if no major upset is demonstrated getting the root cause of this accident will be mission impossible - Maybe even if the CVR/FDR are found.

You would probably need the readings for...

IR2

this fault is "timestamped" at 2:11 - was received (or transmited) at 2:13

Maybe it was triggered at 2:10 and received by the CMC at 2:11.

I suppose it means that only IR2 is "faulty"... But...

momentum

Yes...

I am not an aerodynamicist but maybe the momentum exerted by the vertical stabilizer in this context in such a large (long) aircraft explains why they're harder to put into a flat spin.
