Why engineer is suspended till then he performed his duty as per check list. when aircraft was leave parking bay his duty was over, after that engine may take fire or anything else. it may happen...

ATR-72 does not have APU, We use engine no 2 as APU by propeller locking. & this is called Hotel mode. :ok:
