I am led to believe that you can have the compensation whilst serving but it is a one off payment, so it is best to be claimed on leaving in case you're hearing gets...

Just read the latest edition of Pennant the magazine of the Forces Pension Society. On page 26 there is an article on "Dynamising" basically it explains how due to the lack of any current salary...
